Your lights stop being a color and become a show. The LED Engine runs little stories, living patterns and
custom-built scenes right on your controller β so your house looks like nobody else's on the street.
π¬
Stories
Little shows with a beginning, a middle and an end β things move, bump, race and react along your roofline.
π
Patterns
Looks that breathe and drift β slow color waves, twinkles and glows that make the house feel alive all night.
π οΈ
Custom shows
Something only your house has β built for you from your idea, your colors and your roofline.
Stories
Your roofline becomes a stage
A Story is a tiny program the controller plays on your lights. Here are three we've already built
and run on real houses.
π±
The Pool Game
A game of pool, played on your gutters.
A rack of seven colored balls sits together in the middle of the strip.
The white cue ball blinks, lines up β and breaks. Balls scatter with real-looking friction and slow to a stop.
Then the cue ball lines up its shots β one ball knocked off the end at a time while the rest wait their turn β until the table is clear and the game starts over.
π
Autumn Wind
Fall leaves riding the breeze across your house.
A dozen orange, red and gold leaves, each drifting at its own speed.
The wind blows them all the same way, each at its own speed, until they pile up at the end of the house.
Then the wind turns, and every leaf blows back the other way to pile up again β while dim branches lean with each gust.
π
Kart Race
A Mario Kartβstyle race, right on your roofline.
Six colored karts line up on a random starting grid.
The start lights blink red, red, yellowβ¦ GREEN β and they're off, each at its own speed.
Three laps up and down the house, then the karts park in the order they finished. Every race is different.
Stories need firmware 2.0. Some longer Stories need a larger ShawTech controller.
Patterns
Make the house look alive
Patterns don't tell a story β they set a mood. They move slowly and gently, so the house never looks
like a flashing sign. Instead it looks like it's breathing.
Color wavesSoft bands of color roll along the roofline, one shade melting into the next.
Twinkle & shimmerRandom lights brighten and fade like starlight or candles.
Glow & breatheThe whole house swells brighter and dimmer, slow as a heartbeat.
Your colors onlyTeam colors, holiday colors, the colors of your front door β your palette, not ours.
Repeats along the houseA pattern repeats down your whole roofline. Want one repeat to cover the garage? Space it wide enough, and it does.
On a schedulePatterns run from your schedules: a warm glow at dusk, something festive on game day.
How it works
What is the LED Engine?
The LED Engine is the part of ShawTech firmware 2.0 that draws every frame on your lights. It understands three things:
Sprites β small objects with their own color and size: a ball, a leaf, a kart.
A stage β your lights, start to finish, measured to your actual roofline.
A little program β the rules that move the sprites: speed, friction, wind, laps, timing.
It all runs on the controller itself. Once a preset is loaded, it plays smoothly with no phone and no internet β just like your schedules do today.
Every preset is checked before it reaches your controller: that it was made for you, that it fits your number of lights, and that your firmware can run it.
Made for you
Ask for a preset, and we'll build it
1Tell us your idea
A request form: "snow falling on the peaks", "our team scoring a touchdown", "a jack-o'-lantern flicker".
2Confirm it's you
We send one e-mail to confirm the request came from you.
3We build it
Our team designs the preset and fits it to your house and controller.
4It arrives on your lights
We send it straight to your controller. It's yours to play, schedule and keep.
π
Share it with the community β if you want to
Coming soon: the ShawTech community preset web app.
When you request a preset, you choose: keep it private (only your house), or share it.
Shared presets will go into a community library on the web, where you can browse what other ShawTech homes have made.
Like one you see? Play a publicly shared preset on your house.
Swap by the season Β· coming soon
Load them in, offload them out
π OctoberLoad ten Halloween presets
β
π¦ November 1Offload them β they're kept safe for next year
β
π DecemberLoad your Christmas set
Your controller doesn't have to hold everything at once. Load the presets you want for the season,
and offload them when you're done. They aren't lost β load them back next year in one go.
A house like no one else's
Most permanent lights can only do what came in the box. With the LED Engine, your lights do what
you imagine β a story on the gutters, a pattern that breathes, a show made only for your home.
That's how you stand out on the street.
We're working on the LED Engine now, as part of ShawTech firmware 2.0. Loading and offloading presets and the community library are coming features. Details may change as we build it.
